Reign & Root Academy (RRA) is a small, relationship-centered learning environment offering infant, toddler, and pre-K programming.
Our days are rooted in rhythm, connection, and development—supporting children through play, music, movement, outdoor learning, and hands-on projects. practice, we champion critical thinking, emotional intelligence, creativity, and the innovative early learning approaches that truly honor the whole child—our RRA promise to families.

Reign & Root Academy was created for parents, by a parent who gets it. We work with families, not around them, and we mean it when we say no question is off the table. This FAQ page is here to offer clear, honest answers so you can decide if RRA is the right fit for your family with confidence.
Our enrollment process is simple but thorough. You would inquire by filling out the Open Interest form here . After this, we will complete a brief phone call intake followed by a tour. If you choose to officially enroll your child, you will then complete the enrollment packet and provide your childs recent record of their physical, copy of their immunizations, and a copy of their voucher (if this applies). Plan to provide the $75 enrollment fee and 2 weeks of tuition to begin that is applied to the last week of care and your start week.
We follow a play-based curriculum that focuses on social-emotional development, language and literacy, cognitive development, and physical development.
Yes, we offer both full-time and part-time enrollment options.
Yes. Reign & Root Academy is fully insured in accordance with state requirements for early childhood programs. Safety, compliance, and responsible operation are non-negotiables for us.
We primarily communicate with families through ClassDojo, which serves as our secure classroom communication platform.
Families can expect:
- 2–3 updates per day when possible, including photos, short notes, and classroom highlights
- Occasional days with fewer updates, depending on the flow of the day and children’s needs
- Important reminders, announcements, and messages shared directly through the app
For privacy and safety:
- Our ClassDojo classroom is private and limited to currently enrolled families only
- Photos and updates are not visible to the public or outside families
We believe communication should be consistent, honest, and respectful of the children’s experience. While we value sharing moments from the day, our priority is always being present with the children rather than documenting every moment.
A microschool is a small, relationship-centered learning environment that prioritizes individualized attention, flexibility, and whole-child development.
Unlike large childcare centers or traditional schools, microschools:
- Serve a very small number of children
- Offer low ratios and consistent caregivers
- Adapt learning to children’s developmental needs rather than rigid pacing

Our goal is to provide a calm, intentional foundation that supports children socially, emotionally, and cognitively — while preparing them for future school environments in a developmentally appropriate way.

Young children learn through:

At Reign & Root, learning is embedded into the day, not forced through worksheets or pressure. Early math, literacy, language development, and problem-solving happen naturally through songs, stories, cooking, nature exploration, dramatic play, and daily routines.
We use a developmentally informed, play-based approach guided by early childhood best practices rather than a rigid boxed curriculum.
Our days typically include:
- Morning arrival & free play
- Circle time (songs, stories, connection)
- Early literacy & phonics exposure
- Early math concepts through play and routines
- Social-emotional learning & character development
- Nature exploration (daily, weather permitting)
- Music, movement, and creative expression
- Life skills (self-help, responsibility, care for materials)
- Lunch, rest, and quiet play
- Afternoon enrichment and small-group activities
The structure stays predictable — the activities adapt to the children.
We are nature-connected year-round, with outdoor time that is brief, intentional, and developmentally appropriate during colder months.
Winter nature experiences may include:
- Short outdoor walks or yard exploration
- Snow observation and sensory play
- Collecting natural materials (sticks, leaves, pinecones)
- Listening for birds, wind, and environmental sounds
- Gardening preparation and observation
- Nature-based stories, songs, and indoor extensions of outdoor learning
Outdoor time is always adjusted based on weather conditions and children’s comfort and safety.
No. We provide breakfast, lunch, and two snacks daily.
Families only need to supply food if their child has specific dietary needs or allergies that require accommodations beyond what we can safely provide.
Yes. We accept childcare vouchers as well as private pay families.
We serve children approximately ages 1–4.
Children under 18 months must be confidently walking in order to enroll, as we are a mixed-age, active learning environment. Younger children nap in a pack-n-play or equivalent safe sleep space.
- Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
- Calendar: We follow the Boston Public Schools calendar
- Summer: We are open during the summer
Our capacity is intentionally limited to just 4 children.
We believe small group sizes create the best learning experience — for children and families.
Our rates are intentionally set to balance accessibility, sustainability, and individualized care. We prioritize quality over volume and review tuition as the program grows.

We believe the best early learning happens when families and educators work in partnership. We are intentional about enrollment because the right fit creates a calmer environment, stronger relationships, and a better experience for everyone.
Reign & Root Academy is not designed to be everything to everyone — and that is by design.

Reign & Root Academy adheres to the Boston Public Schools calendar. This means when BPS is closed, we are closed. However, we are a full year program filled with enrichment & active learning.
